FreeOpen Data

AHN Partners (Provinces & Water Boards)

Overview

The AHN is a collaboration between Dutch provinces and water boards to maintain a high-resolution elevation model of the entire Netherlands. Generated from airborne LiDAR scanning, the AHN provides both a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM). The current version (AHN4) has an average point density of 8 points per square meter. This data is essential for flood risk assessment, water management, solar potential analysis, and 3D city modeling. The AHN is available as open data through PDOK.

Key Features

  • 0.5m resolution elevation data
  • Point cloud (LAZ) and raster formats
  • Digital Terrain Model (DTM)
  • Digital Surface Model (DSM)
  • Full national coverage
  • Free open data access

Use Cases

  • Flood risk assessment
  • Solar panel potential analysis
  • 3D city modeling
  • Shadow analysis
  • Infrastructure planning
